Four interstate men have been arrested and charged with drug trafficking offences in the Far North.
Just after 1pm on Monday, 30 June, Highway Patrol officers clocked a Ford Ranger doing 125km/h in a 110 zone on the Stuart Highway near Kootaberra, about 50km north of Port Augusta.
As police turned to signal the vehicle to pull over, they allegedly saw packages being thrown from the vehicle’s windows.
Officers searched the car and allegedly found a bong and some loose cannabis. They also recovered the discarded packages, which allegedly contained around 1.2 kilograms of cannabis.
The men – aged 19, 20, 20 and 22 – were all arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled drug.
They were refused bail and appeared in court on 1 July. Three of the four were remanded in custody.
