One of the men convicted over the notorious Snowtown ‘bodies in the barrels’ murders could soon walk free, as he fronts the parole board today.
James Vlassakis was convicted of four of the eleven killings that took place between 1992 and 1999. He was the youngest of those involved and later gave evidence against the other offenders.
His 26-year non-parole period is due to expire in the coming weeks, prompting his formal bid for early release.

The parole board will consider whether Vlassakis, now in his 40s, is eligible to be released back into the community.
