Jamestown GP awarded for excellence in rural healthcare

A Jamestown doctor has received one of South Australia’s top medical honours.

Doctor Rowena Conway has been awarded the 2025 Rural Generalist of the Year by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.

Dr Conway has served the region for more than 30 years – providing care across Jamestown, Peterborough and Orroroo – and working across general practice, emergency and obstetric care.

She was recognised for her leadership, mentorship, and commitment to delivering high-quality, broad-scope healthcare to rural communities and for inspiring the next generation of country doctors.

The award celebrates Rural Generalists who demonstrate outstanding commitment to best-practice care in rural, remote and First Nations communities.
