The 83rd Golden Globe Awards have wrapped up at the Beverly Hilton, and if you weren’t there to see the champagne flow in person, don’t worry, we’ve done the heavy lifting for you. It was a night where the veteran masters showed the newcomers how it’s done, while a few streaming darlings managed to snatch the rug out from under the heavyweights.

From Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest “masterpiece” to a medical drama that feels a little too real for anyone who’s ever sat in an ER waiting room, here is the breakdown of who actually took home the gold and who went home with just a gift bag.

PTA’s Big Night: “One Battle After Another”

If you’ve been following the awards buzz, it’s no surprise that One Battle After Another was the belle of the ball. Paul Thomas Anderson’s ragtag revolutionary saga didn’t just win; it dominated. Snagging Best Picture (Musical or Comedy), the film also saw PTA himself taking home both the Directing and Screenwriting trophies.

The real heart-stealer of the night, however, was Teyana Taylor, who won Best Supporting Actress. Her performance has been the talk of the town since the film’s September release, and seeing her get her flowers on the Hilton stage felt like a genuine “finally” moment.

The Drama and the Upsets

While many expected Ryan Coogler’s vampire thriller Sinners to sweep the Drama categories, the night belonged to Hamnet. Chloé Zhao’s speculative Shakespearean drama pulled off the ultimate upset, winning Best Motion Picture – Drama. Its lead, Jessie Buckley, also secured Best Female Actor, proving that period pieces still have plenty of bite in 2026.

That’s not to say Sinners went home empty-handed; it secured the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award and Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson.

Other notable film wins included:

  • Wager Moura taking Best Actor (Drama) for The Secret Agent.
  • Timothée Chalamet finally getting his first Globe for Marty Supreme—a win that even Leonardo DiCaprio stood up to applaud.
  • Rose Byrne proving her comedic genius yet again with a win for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.

On the TV front, the night felt like a high-speed victory lap for three specific series: The Pitt, The Studio, and Adolescence.

The Pitt (HBO Max) solidified its status as the new king of medical dramas. Noah Wyle (who apparently hasn’t aged since his ER days) took home Best Actor in a Drama, while the show itself won Best Television Series – Drama. It’s gritty, it’s stressful, and according to the Globes, it’s the best thing on television right now.

Over at Apple TV, The Studio—Seth Rogen’s biting satire of… well, people exactly like the ones in the room—won Best Comedy. Rogen also picked up Best Actor (Comedy), a win that felt delightfully meta given that the show actually has an episode set at the Golden Globes.

Finally, the limited series Adolescence (Netflix) cleared the shelves. Stephen Graham won Best Actor, Erin Doherty took Supporting Actress, and Owen Cooper took Supporting Actor. When Graham made it to the stage, he was greeted with a massive hug from his old Gangs of New York pal Leo DiCaprio. Honestly? That was the highlight of the night.

Who Missed Out?

It wasn’t a lucky night for everyone. Despite high expectations, titles like Bugonia, Frankenstein, and Wicked: For Good left the Beverly Hilton without a single trophy. Better luck at the Oscars, perhaps?
