The Cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine Appear to be Teasing Some News

Terry loves revivals!

So uh, this wasn’t on my 2026 bucket list. After the Firefly cast spent a few weeks relentlessly teasing some upcoming news on their social medias, which did in fact turn into a revival of the series. It seems the cast behind Brooklyn Nine-Nine are now doing the same.

The beloved New York City cop based sitcom, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, started its run back in 2013 and ended five years ago in 2021. But is the show truly over? Well the socials of some of the cast appear to hint otherwise. Dirk Blocker, the actor of Hitchcock has been sharing images of him and his onscreen partner Scully, as played by Joel McKinnon Miller, with the caption “Let’s just say, the sexiest duo MIGHT be back.“. This was posted four days ago, sparking many rumours.

The very next day, Dirk Blocker added more fuel to the fire by posting more images, this time of cast mates Melissa Fumero (Amy Santiago) and Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta). Accompanied by the playful caption “Surely you get it now?”.

Signs do seem to point towards a revival of the beloved comedy, but is this the right decision if so? Many fans were fairly contempt with how the show ended, with Terry becoming captain and Jake retiring to raise their son and support Amy’s career. Additionally, with the passing of Andre Braugher, whom played the electric Captain Raymond Holt, the cast would be absent of some of its most beloved characters. Lastly, with the current political landscape in the United States, especially around the use of its law enforcement being a key talking point in the media as of late, is this a bold move to restore some light in a dark world? Or a mistake that may taint the reputation of an otherwise widely beloved original sitcom.

Personally, I instinctually think they should let the show be. I love the original and don’t want to see it tainted by an unnecessary reboot. But with the most recent success behind the newest Scrubs revival and seeing how that show has returned with some genuinely unique and well told stories, who knows. Perhaps it’s time the world see the return of the 99th precinct.

I will however only watch the show if Cheddar is the newest Captain.
