Boundary changes proposed for Grey electorate

An extension could be on the way for the Grey electorate, with the Australian Electoral Commission proposing a boundary redistribution.

The proposal would shift the boundary further south to bring in half of the Light and Playford councils in outer suburban Adelaide into the electorate.

Grey MP Tom Venning said incorporating the new councils would significantly alter the composition of the electorate and shift its focus as the demographics in outer Adelaide don’t align with the regional industry hubs.

It’s one of two proposals for the electorate, with the AEC also proposing to rename Grey to O’Donoghue, in recognition of Indigenous leader Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue.

Feedback on the proposals are open now on the AEC website, before a decision is made in October.
