The Appila Springs Bridge upgrade has officially wrapped up, with the project delivered on budget and now open to traffic.
Funded through the Federal Government’s Bridge Renewal Program, which covered 80 percent of the project costs, the remaining 20 percent was contributed by the Mount Remarkable Council.
Despite encountering some unexpected challenges during construction, the project remained on track thanks to the combined efforts of contractors and Council staff.
Mayor Stephen McCarthy welcomed the completion of the works, calling the bridge a “vital asset for the region.”
“Both the local community and visitors can take pride in this important achievement. It will serve the area well for many years to come,” he said.
The Council thanked residents for their patience during the construction period and said every effort was made to minimise disruption.
While the bridge is now open, speed restrictions remain in place as contractors finish demobilising equipment on site. A formal opening ceremony will be held soon.
