The Clare Valley Wine and Wilderness Trail has finally opened to the public after three years of hard work and dedication from a team of volunteers.
The approximately 100-kilometer loop around the Clare Valley passes by 27 wineries, and visitors can now explore the six stages of the trail.
Committee member Emily Dunstan says she believes the trail is now on par with other great walks around the world, and it’s accessible to a wide range of people. Local groups, including the council, Clare Men’s Shed, and Lions Club of Clare, provided support for the project, which also received sponsorship from The Lang Foundation.
The committee say that it’s not just tourists who will enjoy the trail though, with the trail cutting through private land previously restricted to the public, locals will have something new to explore too.
