Grandparents raising vulnerable children across South Australia will continue to receive support, following new state government funding for Grandcarers SA.
An extra $340,000 over four years will help the organisation deliver key services, including a telephone helpline, financial assistance and peer support groups.
More than 1,000 grandcarer families are expected to benefit, with regular “Village” meetings continuing in regional areas, including Port Lincoln, Kadina and Yorketown.
The funding will also support the retention of experienced staff and volunteers who assist families navigating complex care arrangements.
Grandcarers SA said the investment will strengthen support networks and ensure grandparents raising children can access the help they need.
