Locals Deployed To Help Fight Canadian Wildfires

With hundreds of active wildfires raging in Canada, three local CFS staffers are set to be deployed tomorrow morning.

Alberta and British Columbia crews have been battling fires on foot, using heavy machinery to create containment lines.

The crew includes Divisional Commander, Phil Tapscott from Port Augusta, Sector Commander Keagan Porter from Minlaton, and Strike Team Leader Shaun Irrgang from Jamestown.

State Duty Commander, Matt Davis, says this is the second year in a row our firefighters have been deployed to Canada.

The deployment could last up to 40 days.
