The Spencer Gulf Cities’ Mayors have welcomed the appointment of Tom Koutsantonis as the new chair of the Upper Spencer Gulf Intergovernmental Group (USGIG).
The Minister for infrastructure, transport and energy replaces previous local government Minister and local MP, Geoff Brock, as chair.
Port Pirie Mayor, Leon Stephens, chair of the SGC – which is made up of Port Pirie, Port Augusta, and Whyalla – says they’re excited about the new direction for the group.

The current issues on the table for the USGIG are workforce skills, housing, social impacts and investment.
Minister Koutsantonis is also a member of the Upper Spencer Gulf Cabinet Taskforce.
