Exciting changes are afoot in Solomontown as construction of new concrete footpaths has begun, aimed at combating lead dust in the community.
The collaborative effort involves the Port Pirie Council, State Government, and the Targeted Lead Abatement Program (TLAP), who are contributing $1 million.
The “Solomontown Footpaths” project also includes tree planting and Water Sensitive Urban Design enhancements.
The ‘Church Circle’ area is the focus, bounded by Three Chain Road, Main Road, Alpha Terrace, and Albert Terrace.
Once the footpaths are sealed, Council will plant trees and ground cover plants.
Council has advised it will directly notify affected residents and provide continual updates.
