A new research project is being led by the University of South Australia, in collaboration with Palliative Care SA, that aims to improve end-of-life planning in rural communities.
The ‘Living well as long as we can’ initiative, funded by The Hospital Research Foundation, aims to promote essential conversations about palliative care in remote areas.
The project involves working with local community leaders to find ways to highlight how rural communities can support each other at end of life, effectively navigate systems and make their existing strengths more visible.
The study will begin in four South Australian rural regions with those in Whyalla and Port Lincoln asked to share their experiences in an online survey to gather insights on palliative care.
