Coinciding with Operation Safe Roads and Rural Highways, Police, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and Marine Safety SA provided a high visibility presence at locations throughout the Eyre West area in an attempt to deter road users from engaging in behaviours that contribute to fatal and serious injury crashes.
One arrest and three reports occurred, alongside 155 expiations and 93 defect notices. 1,134 drivers also submitted to a breath test with only one recorded positive result.
29 drugs tests were conducted with six drivers returning a positive result with two instant losses of licences issued.
Police warn motorists that they will continue to make traffic and road compliance a priority in order to reduce serious injury and fatal crashes whilst targeting fatal five and vehicle standards offences.
