Six boys – the youngest just 11 years old – have been arrested after police tracked a stolen car from Whyalla to Port Augusta.
An Audi SUV was reported stolen from a Whyalla address early Monday morning and later spotted in driving on Seaview Road in Port Augusta – where it allegedly failed to stop for police.
Tracking led officers to a Whyalla service station, where all six youths were arrested.
The boys aged 11, 13, 13, 13, 14 and 14 were all charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession.
Three of the boys were refused bail and appeared in the Whyalla Magistrates Court on Monday. The other three were bailed to appear in court on 19 November.
The stolen car was towed from the scene for forensic examination.
Anyone who has dashcam footage of the stolen Audi driving between Port Augusta and Whyalla is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.
