Lobbying by the Lochiel Progress Association has paid off, with lower speeds now being trialled around the Pink Lake for the next year.
An 800 m portion of the Augusta Highway will now be 60 km/h in a bid to improve road safety.
Pedestrian warning signs will be positioned within the 60 km/h zone, and a safety and compliance assessment will be held after the trial to determine if the new speed limit will be made permanent.
