The Northern Water Supply Project on the Eyre Peninsula, currently in the planning stage, could usher in significant economic prosperity, according to Premier Peter Malinauskas.
The project, featuring a 260ML per day desalination plant and a 600km pipeline network, aims to provide water primarily for industrial and commercial use.
Malinauskas believes the project could fuel a copper mining boom and contribute to a green hydrogen hub in the Upper Spencer Gulf.
He emphasized the project’s importance for regional Australia and its role in harnessing SA’s copper reserves as global demand for copper rises due to electrification efforts.
