Concerns over the use of the term Prosecco are mounting, with fears for Australian agriculture and other regional industries.
The European Union is attempting to gain exclusive use of the name as a Geographical Indicator, despite Aussie winemakers using Prosecco grapes for more than two decades.
The move would be a huge blow to the local wine industry with the total value of Australian Prosecco production estimated to be more than $200 million.
