Spencer Gulf Searoad has paused its Wallaroo to Lucky Bay ferry service, after failing to secure a suitable interim vessel.
CEO Kieran Carvill said the company is focused on developing a new electric ferry, with design approval now underway.
In a statement released this week, he said regulatory hurdles and operational costs have added further pressure while the current older vessel Aurora V undergoes a refit in New South Wales.

The service is expected to resume once a new vessel and approvals are in place.
Spencer Gulf Searoad thanked passengers for their patience.
