A NSW man has been attacked with a machete in his own home before being shot in the groin after four men broke into his house in the middle of the night.
The four invaders, armed with a machete and shotguns, broke into the victim's Wellington home about 3.30am on Tuesday, NSW Police said in a statement.
The 37-year-old was assaulted with the machete before being shot in the groin.
The bullet fractured his thighbone while the blade left cuts on his head, lower leg and thumb, police told AAP.
The man underwent surgery at Orange Base Hospital and is in a stable condition.
