A new educational roadside stop display is now open at the Yorke Valley Dam, approximately six kilometres south of Maitland.
Over 100 locals turned up for the opening of the new attraction earlier this month which highlights the history of water on the Yorke Peninsula and is the result of an exciting community partnership between SA Water and the Maitland and District Progress Association.
The roadside stop, provides a sheltered educational display, picnic facilities, interpretive walk around the perimeter of the dam, and also historical water pumping equipment.
SA Water's General Manager Customers, Strategy and Innovation Anna Jackson said "This display and interpretive trail is a great way to educate travellers on the history of water for the region's early settlers, the establishment of mains water in the area and other future industry initiatives like desalination and renewable energy.”
