Police crackdown on anti-social behavior in Port Augusta

police news

After reports of an increase in anti-social behaviour in recent months, SAPOL launched an operation which commenced recently to curb the issues within the community.

In December, Port Augusta Mayor Brett Benbow released a video calling on support of Federal and State Authorities to assist in policing the anti-social behaviour.

According to Inspector Phil Kotaras, this behaviour spiked due to an influx of visitors from Northern parts of South Australia and the Northern Territory.

The operation includes use of Mounted police, Canine units and additional officers from Adelaide in order to show a strong police presence.

SAPOL have advised the operation will continue for as long as seen necessary.

Port Augusta City Council have also launched a incident reporting form and are encouraging community members to use this tool to report any anti-social behaviour in the community.

You can find a link to the form HERE.
