Port Augusta is set to benefit from 80 permanent positions and up to 100 constructions jobs.
This is following the state governments approval of Port Augusta Operations development application.
The approval allows the former Port Augusta power station site to be transformed into a port, which will be named Port Playford.
The operations will focus on export shipping services to existing as well as future mining operations and projects in Ironore regions.
$100 million dollars is expected to be injected into the project over the next 18 months, with construction due to commence this year.
