The Yorke Peninsula is kicking off a new pH soil mapping project, tackling the emerging problem of soil acidity for crops and pasture production in northern areas of the state.
Funded under the Australian Government's National Landcare Program, the Department of Primary Industriesand Regions SA (PIRSA) is leading the project along with the Mallala andMinlaton Agricultural Bureau Groups.
Mapping the selected paddocks in each of the Agricultural Bureau Groups, will give a good indication of the severity of acid soils and will help farmers better understand and tackle the soil pH.
The project will continue through toJune 2022.
