Port Pirie lead smelter is set to receive a new permanent addition to the work landscape in the form of a 76-metre-tall crane.
The new flat top tower Crane will be installed between the Slag Caster and the Acid Plant and will be used for maintenance on the Slag caster, blast furnace and acid plants.
In the past the cost and time restrictions of a mobile crane have meant significant delays, so to now have a permanent crane is both convenient and financially effective.
The first 36 metres of the tower arrived at the site last week, in parts across 3 truckloads, with a further 13 trailers expected to deliver the remainder.
Construction on the site will be completed over the coming months.
