Port Pirie Regional Council and the Port Pirie RSL Sub Branch have installed four brand new memorial bollards in Memorial Park.
The bollards are located at the Royal Australian Air Force Memorial, Royal Australian Navy Memorial, Foresters Lodge Memorial and Women’s Soldiers Memorial.
The 3 thousand dollars required for the RSL to complete the project was granted by the South Australian Government and Veterans SA, ANZAC Day Commemoration Fund.
The ANZAC Day Commemoration Fund has operated in South Australia since 2005 and provides grant funding towards projects that commemorate ANZAC Day.
QR codes featured on each bollard bring a digital storytelling element, and allow the community and tourists follow the stories of Port Pirie’s local service men and women.
This joint initiative is slowly establishing a ‘Military Trail’ that people will be able to follow via a map, brochure or online.
