A Joy Baluch Bridge duplication project has hit a significant milestone over the weekend, with the first of its 132 beams being installed.
The beams will form the base support that the bridge deck will be built on.
The duplication of the bridge will improve road safety and freight efficiency, while also improving the resilience of the structure into the future.
The bridge duplication is one of the biggest regional infrastructure projects ever undertaken in SA, and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Corey Wingard, says it's progressing on schedule.
"It's due to finish in the second half of next year, and we'll be pushing really hard. Obviously, safety things being taken into consideration to get it done before that, but we're really optimistic," says Mr Wingard.
