South Australia has woken up to the first day of a seven-day lockdown after more Covid cases were announced linked to the Modbury Hospital outbreak.
A fourth and fifth case were announced yesterday morning, one of whom was in quarantine while the other was out in the community when they returned the positive result.
Local events have therefore been brought to a grinding halt this weekend, including Friday and Saturday’s performances of Wicked the Musical in Port Pirie, Port Augusta’s Diabetes Awareness Walk, and Quorn’s History Group Courthouse Open Day.
The only reasons to leave home will include; essential work, care and compassion, essential shopping, medical reasons, and exercise.
Mr Marshall said the state government wanted to move as quickly as possible to slow the spread of the cluster which has been confirmed as the Delta strain.
