A number of ideas for the expansion and rejuvenation of the Whyalla foreshore have been outlined during a presentation on the City of Whyalla's Foreshore Master Plan.
It follows workshops and community surveys earlier in the year and amongst the suggestions, facilities such as a Marine Discovery Centre with a university component and a café, and a cinema and retail precinct.
Other ideas include re-locating the maritime museum to the new centre and building a new destination caravan park with a swimming pool, water park and a mini golf course.
The installation of permanent shipping containers for pop-up cafes has also been floated, which would give residents the chance to rent them out for business opportunities.
The consultation period for the Foreshore Master Plan is continuing, with more details expected in the coming weeks.
