Thousands of Federal Government dollars have been given to a number of projects across the region, aiming to create a better experience for boaters and fishers.
The projects are funded through the $20 million dollar Recreational Fishing and Camping Facilities Program, with 1.7 million going to projects across SA.
$200,000 has been given to the Barunga West Council to buy and install a new pontoon-based jetty at Port Broughton to support recreational fishing and improve access for anglers, with another $200,000 going to install a permanent public amenities block at the town’s boat ramp.
$100,000 will go towards improving the boat launching facilities at Solomontown Beach in Port Pirie, with council planning to re-organise the car park and rigging area to improve safety for boat ramp users.
And $29,000 will go to the Yorke Peninsula Council to improve the breakwater of the boat ramp at Point Turton, to increase accessibility for land based fishing.
