Port Augusta City Council received confirmation Friday that the State Government would commit to funding the Arid Lands Botanic Gardens, taking pressure of rate payers in the council area.

The State Government will contribute $750,000 per financial year, starting from this July, until the end of this term of government, to pay down debts and assist with operations at the facility, following through on promises made ahead of the March election.

Brett Benbow, Mayor of the Port Augusta City Council, says the government had confirmed the funding in writing and expressed his gratitude for the work done over the last 3 years to get this result.
