The first two modular pods are currently being installed on the Whyalla foreshore, to house the temporary location for the new foreshore café operator and pop up visitor information centre.
The pods which originally serviced the Adelaide 500, will be located in the foreshore precinct, helping modernise the area while pre-empting future foreshore master plan work.
Whyalla City Council CEO Justin Commons says residents will have noticed work starting on the foreshore facilities yesterday (May 12), with future-focused work for the new Surf Lifesaving Club and water play area, meaning there will be a few weeks of disruption.
To ensure the safety of patrons during works, the Smokey Uppercuts café will only be open from Friday-to-Sunday as of Monday (May 16), before resuming normal service from Monday 30 May.
