After more than 140 years, a decision has now officially been made, that competitive sport will cease to be played at Mundoora Oval.

Broughton-Mundoora home matches are now permanently played at the Port Broughton Oval in the Northern Areas competition.

As such, a new lease on life for the former sporting ground has been announced, with the inaugural Vintage Tractor Pull to take place at the site on August 20 and 21.

Mundoora farmer Kelvin Stringer, along with the Mundoora Community Progress Association have brought the event to life, in the hopes of being able to use the oval again and draw crowds.

The tractor pull competition involves old tractors trying to pull a weighted sled for 100 metres - billed as 'Mud and Dust'.

The Mundoora Progress Association has also developed an RV-friendly camping area, east of the oval to encourage visitors.
