Selfless act a win for Whyalla homelessness

homeless.jpgA Whyalla resident has made a selfless contribution to curbing the youth homelessness issue being faced in regional towns.
Larry Higgins, an Aboriginal Cultural Consultant for Whyalla Partnerships, seized an opportunity to grab 10 outdoor swags from a friend, and immediately donated them to the Whyalla Youth Advisory Committee (YAC).
Mr Higgins said he was on a trip recently in Port Lincoln, and noticed 10 of the swags lying unused in a friends gym, deciding to bring them back to Whyalla.
Council Youth Development Officer and YAC co-ordinator Gail Rostig, who collected the 10 swags from Mr Higgins, says homelessness is an unseen issue in Whyalla, describing homeless youth as “children couch surfing”.
