Mid North Community Passenger Network gets some new wheels

driver generic.jpgLocals using a wheelchair in the Mid North won’t need to fork out large amounts of money to organise clumsy forms of transportation anymore.

The Mid North Community Passenger Network has said that a new wheelchair access car has been added to the fleet, and it’s already taking the headache out for those needing a lift.

The passenger network spared no expense and managed to get hold of a VW Caddy, which is fairly large and easy for the volunteer drivers to take out.

15 local drivers have received special training to drive the car, as well as helping passengers get in and out using the access ramp.

For now, the car will be based out of Clare but Network Transport Coordinator DAMIEN GRAHAM said that’s debateable depending on who needs it the most.
