Whyalla tourism numbers take sharp climb

Graph2.JPGMore and more people are flocking to the Upper Spencer Gulf’s steel city.
According to Whyalla’s Visitor Centre and Maritime Museum, visitors to the centre from outside the city have jumped as much as 10% in a single year.
Local visitor numbers look even better, about a 21% increase, while other numbers in accommodation and tours of the local steelworks have also soared, around 5%.
One pair of tourists, Gian and Eleonora from Italy, who visited Whyalla last week, went as far to say they would be urging their friends to come over and visit the city.
It’s all proof that Whyalla is becoming both; a more popular hot spot for locals and Aussie travellers, and international visitors.
