The Lions Club of Port Augusta has made a generous contribution to the Stirling North Country Fire Service Cadets.
Lions Club President Dean Parish presented the group with a cheque for $1000, which will help fund new equipment and training.
Mr Parish said “The cadets are our future [firefighters] and we need to look after them. [The Lions Club] raise money for the local community and we like to give our
money back to the people who are important in the area.”
Stirling North CFS Captain Ben Russ knows the importance of the cadet initiative, saying they teach the cadets all the basic firefighting skills to prepare them for senior positions within the brigade.
