The Federal Government has announced the Drought Finance Taskforce which will aim to address financial stress on farmers and drought affected communities.
The taskforce will look at impacts on particular areas to help target financial relief for local economies and councils.
SA’s Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone has admitted the State Government is not providing any direct financial support to farmers in need.
Drought affected communities across the state have been ignored by the Federal Government, with South Australia recently missing out on millions of dollars in drought funding.
Shadow Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Eddie Hughes welcomes the new taskforce which will work with the country’s banks to support small businesses and farmers.
