Flinders Power has stepped up, making a $50,000 donation to the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens to upgrade their facilities.
Flinders Power CEO Peter Georgaris says the donation was a practical way to give back to the community and they recognise the important role the gardens play in the local economy.
The donation has been put towards three drinking fountains and four table-and-chair settings in the new picnic shelter area, as well as upgrading sections of the boundary fence.
Arid Lands ticked over almost 107,000 visitors this year, making it Port Augusta’s most popular tourist attraction and bringing in an estimated $18 million to the city.
The 250-hectare garden also took home a bronze award in the Ecotourism category at the 2018 South Australian Tourism Awards.
