BIKE_RIDE.jpgRound 2 of the SA Healthy Towns Challenge has launched, offering grants for regional towns to develop health programs in their communities.

Grants of up to $5000 will be awarded to successful applicants with 6 grants in Round 1 being provided to recipients on their way to improving the health and wellbeing of their town.

Uniting Country SA in Port Pirie received funding for their FoodHub Health and Wellbeing Project.

The project focuses on healthy eating, disease prevention and minimising lead absorption, including the training of FoodHub volunteers.

The SA Healthy Towns Challenge is part of the SA government’s Healthy Communities Program which supports community-wide health and the reduction of preventable disease.

Applications for Round 2 are now open.

Projects must be short term (up to 12 months) and undertaken in partnership with an External Partner, a not-for-profit organisation with expertise in health and wellbeing.

Applications will close at 5.00pm on Monday, 15 April 2019.
