The RAA is calling for the duplication of the notorious stretch of Highway 1 between Port Wakefield and Port Augusta.
The road has previously been labelled as the “death corridor” by the Civil Contractors Federation of SA who estimated the duplication would cost $1.2 billion back in 2016.
The Augusta Highway between Port Augusta and Port Lincoln is also high on the RAA’s agenda.
It is SA’s busiest stretch of road and has tragically seen 19 people killed and 199 injured between 2013 and 2017.
RAA’s President Elizabeth Perry says the Augusta Highway is going to see more traffic than ever before and an upgrade to this road is now urgent.
The RAA are pledging to make these crucial road upgrades a Federal Election issue.
