Port Augusta former power site gets tick from EPA

port_augusta.jpgPort Augusta’s former Power Station site was inspected by EPA officers last week.
Inspectors were satisfied with the rehabilitation progress being made.
The inspection noted the contingency dust management measures implemented
prior to summer, such as surface roughening and dust suppressant application,
have shown to be successful in reducing dust impacts from the site and
encouraging vegetation growth.
The EPA licence associated with the site was transferred from Flinders Power to
new owner, CU-River Mining in late May, with CU-River Mining required to
provide a $2.4m bank guarantee by October 1 this year to cover expenses
incurred should they fail to undertake the actions required by its licence.
