Economic Growth Opportunities in the Spencer Gulf were highlighted at a recent event in Parliament House.
The event acted as a rare occasion for the Chair of the Spencer Gulf Cities Association, Port Pirie Mayor Leon Stephens, to shine a light on the potential of the region.
He said, “There is over $15 billion investment proposed, underway or recently completed across the Upper Spencer Gulf in a range of renewable energy, mining and processing, Defence, value-added agriculture, event and nature-based tourism initiatives”
Port Pirie, Whyalla and Port Augusta have the capacity to grow but this cannot be achieved without assistance from the Government.
“Even if only half of these projects come to fruition, it will be significant,” Stephens said.
Further regular meetings with the regions Mayors will be taking place to secure jobs and investment in the Upper Spencer Gulf.
