Oz Minerals Carrapateena Mine is set to produce its first saleable concentrate in the next month.
With Carrapateena being the world’s fourth largest copper resource, the company is on track to produce up to 4000 tonnes of copper and up to 6000 ounces of gold.
Drilling has commenced on the first production level and the company has also stockpiled more than 180,000 tonnes of development ore on the surface, with the site now connected to the electricity grid network.
The connection has enabled the staged energisation of the minerals processing plant.
