Voting opens today for Flinders Rangers’ locals on the proposed Radioactive Waste Management Facility in Hawker.
Three sites across South Australia have been shortlisted with the Flinders’ Ranges next in line to have their say on whether or not the community supports the facility being built in the region.
To be eligible to vote locals must reside within a 50km radius of the nominated site.
Following the conclusion of the ballot which is conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission, the community’s opinions will be considered before a final decision is made by the government on which site will proceed.
The Flinders’ ballot closes December 12th.
