Wakefield Regional Council has backed plans for a Childcare Centre in Snowtown Primary School with $15,000 worth of funding.
The funding initiative comes after Council conducted a region-wide study last year, which reinforced the gap in childcare services across the region.
Wakefield Mayor Rodney Reid has stated that, “Providing services to assist parents and caregivers, will cut down on the need to travel out of the region, while granting locals further opportunities to re-enter the workforce locally.
The $15,000 funds aim to assist in the start-up costs for the not-for-profit service, as well as the initial payment of wages and costs.
The Snowtown Children’s Centre is set to open in 2020.
