Sophie Altus Takes Home Top Prize at the Wakefield Regional VET Student Awards

Mid North student Sophie Altus of Horizon High School has earnt top honours and prize money at this year’s Wakefield Regional Vocational Education and Training Student Awards.

Sophie, has recently graduated from Year 11, whilst undertaking, not one, but two certificates and also volunteering for CFS.

The awards were presented by Wakefield Regional Council and Balco Australia, to students who excelled in their VET course or Australian School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship.

Emily Wandel and Josh Tiller were also awarded Highly Commended Awards.

Mayor Rodney Reid stated, “In undertaking a VET course it means students have found something they’re interested in, that they’re passionate about, that they wish to succeed in, and want to forge a career out of.”
