Locals will be celebrating across the Spencer Gulf this Australia Day!

In Port Pirie locals can venture down to the Solomontown Foreshore for a watermelon eating competition, family fun activities and a jumping castle! There will also be a flag raising ceremony kicking off at 8am.

In Port Augusta a free community breakfast is on from 7:30am, followed by the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony and awards, as well as the cutting of the 26’ers cake.

The Whyalla Foreshore has amusement rides, bubble soccer and a pyramid rock wall, with the Citizenship Ceremony at 5:15pm. The night is expected to go off with a bang, with fireworks lighting up the sky from 9pm. The City of Whyalla advises that there will be a temporary road closure and safety cordon around Hummock Hill on Sunday, January 26 to accommodate an Australia Day fireworks display.

There’s also an Outdoor Movie night on the Yorke Peninsula in Ardrossan and Charity Bowls Day in Port Germein!
