Following Coronavirus detection in regional south Australia, Yorke and Northern Local Health Network Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Michael Eades has provided details on how to be tested and hence prevent the virus from spreading in regional communities.
Across the Yorke and Northern Local Health Network, one of the key initiatives in place is offering those eligible access to facilities across the region.
Wallaroo Health Service are offering what has been described as a ‘drive through clinic’ which is appointment based. Another clinic of the same nature has also opened in Port Pirie, with the Clare Medical Practices offering testing at various sites in the Clare Valley region.
When asked if self-isolating is the best method for prevention, Mr Eades responded with, “Absolutely that’s correct. All of the same precautions that are there for our metropolitan communities are exactly the same for our country communities. Where possible stay home, don’t necessarily mix with other people if you can avoid that. Because these strategies are shown to reduce the spread or at least reduce the speed.”
