Whyalla’s Visitor Information Centre has re-opened this week, following the easing of government restrictions regarding COVID-19.

Whyalla Mayor, Clare McLaughlin has said, “As visitors begin to return to our City, the Visitor Information Centre will again be able to provide all the information visitors require.”

Perspex screens have been installed at the counter of the Visitor Centre to protect visitors and staff, ensuring social distancing whilst following the government restrictions that are still in place.

The centre will open from 9:00am till 4:00pm weekdays for the time being.

Tours of the Whyalla Steelworks and the HMAS Whyalla will remain suspended until further notice. The Whyalla Maritime Museum also remains closed at this stage.

“The South Australian Government is now encouraging South Australians to travel to the regions, and we welcome this move.”said Mayor McLaughlin.

“Whyalla has many camping spots and some beautiful scenic destinations including Fitzgerald Bay, Point Lowly and the Whyalla Foreshore.”

“The return of visitors and tourists to our region is considered vital to our economic revival post-COVID-19. We look forward to welcoming them.”
